Notes from the lab

Short pieces on how we think about building franchises. Positions, not press releases — and nothing here asks you to take a number on trust.

Proof you can click

Every incubator says it builds companies. Ours are open in a browser tab.

AI-native at unit one, not unit fifty

Bolt AI onto a mature franchise and you automate the coordination the system only needed because people were running it.

What “replicable by a stranger” actually tests

The first thing we ask of a concept is that it survives its founder leaving the room.

What goes here

franlab has not opened its own first store yet, so you will not find operating results on this page. What you will find is the reasoning behind the way we build, and every claim in it can be checked by opening one of the five ventures. When we do have numbers worth publishing, they will arrive with their source and their date attached, like everything else we publish.

Send it when
it is ready.

We read applications all year round. There is no batch to wait for and no deadline to miss.

Applications open year-round

You cannot open physical stores in batches. Every unit needs its own lease, build-out and team — so we take ventures on one at a time, and start each one when it is ready.

We answer every submission ourselves, usually inside two weeks.
